End of School Year

Wow, I can't believe the school year has ended! We had the most fantastic high school graduation that I have ever seen. It was a very special and dignified evening for the class of 2010. Thanks to all faculty and staff for their work in planning.

On another note, I wanted to highlight a final project by two Collision students, Cody Lloyd and Eric Kaiser. See the picture below for the toy car that will be donated to a local school for young children to be used a reward for students who have good behavior. Way to go Cody and Eric!

Academic Endeavors - last few days

As we approach the last few days of school, I have to say how impressed I am as I walk through the academic classrooms. Our Man/Tran students are engaged in an origami creation contest through their study of Japanese culture in Mr. Reath's World Cultures class. Also, if they have Mrs. Abbott or Ms. Dubbs for a math class, they may be participating in a probability contest during which they are combining their classes for more excitement and action.

Thanks to these teachers for continuing to provide quality and interesting education in the academic areas until the end.

In the picture above, our diesel 12th graders are studying the material for earning their state inspection certifications. Thanks to Mr. McKee for agreeing to help the students learn this material. Today, the students will complete the hands-on portion of the state inspection curriculum and take their test.

YCST Veterans Concert

Tonight, I am attending the annual spring music event here at YCST. It's great to see the talents of all of our students. The Man/Tran students involved in the concert are:

Kyle Jones (Collision) and Cody Arnold (Diesel) - Chorus

Rebecca Nispel (Diesel) - Music Theatre Production

Deaven Brown (Auto) - Student Director

Great Job to all! I was pleased to see many faculty members in attendance and helping out. Thanks to Ms. Zeigler for all her work with the music groups.

Auto Olympics

In the picture above, students in the Auto Shop were competing in the Automotive Olympics last Friday. Students had a lot of fun and demonstrated great effort in the activities. Thanks to Mr. Kessler and Mr. Merges for organizing this event!
